This is the story of Master Jianzhen and his six attempts sailing to Japan to spread Buddhism. He failed in the first fifth attempts and even lost eyesight and suffered from a very serious fever on the fifth trip. But that wasn't enough to make JIanzhen give up his determination. When Jianzhen went on his sixth sailing, he's already over sixty. His persistence finally got paid off. He dedicated the last ten years of his life in Japan not only to teach Buddhism, but also promoted communication between Chinese and Japan in areas such as architecture, medicine, and culture.
